Economic production quantity models for deteriorating items with up-stream full trade credit and down-stream partial trade credit

چکیده
In practice, in order to reduce default risks with credit-risk customers, a seller (e.g., a manufacturer or a retailer) frequently requests its credit-risk customers to pay a fraction of the purchase amount at the time of placing an order as collateral deposit, and then grants a permissible delay on the outstanding balance (i.e., a down-stream partial trade credit). By contrast, the seller usually receives a permissible delay on the entire purchase amount from the supplier (i.e., an up-stream full trade credit). In this paper, we propose an economic production quantity (EPQ) model for deteriorating items in a supply chain with both up-stream and down-stream trade credit financing. By using fractional programming results, we can prove that the optimal solution not only exists but also is unique. Moreover, we propose three discrimination terms to identify the optimal solution among possible alternatives. Finally, some numerical examples are presented to highlight the theoretical results and managerial insights. & 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Retailer’s optimal credit period and cycle time in a supply chain for deteriorating items with up-stream and down-stream trade credits
In practice, the supplier often offers the retailers a trade credit period M and the retailer in turn provides a trade credit period N to her/his customer to stimulate sales and reduce inventory. From the retailer’s perspective, granting trade credit not only increases sales and revenue but also increases opportunity cost (i.e., the capital opportunity loss during credit period) and defau...

متن کاملAn EOQ model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items with two levels of storage under trade credit policy
A deterministic inventory model with two levels of storage (own warehouse and rented warehouse) with non-instantaneous deteriorating items is studied. The supplier offers the retailer a trade credit period to settle the amount. Different scenarios based on the deterioration and the trade credit period have been considered. In this article, we have framed two models considering single warehouse ...
متن کاملOptimal pricing and replenishment policies for instantaneous deteriorating items with backlogging and trade credit under inflation
In this paper we develop an economic order quantity model to investigate the optimal replenishment policies for instantaneous deteriorating items under inflation and trade credit. Demand rate is a linear function of selling price and decreases negative exponentially with time over a finite planning horizon. Shortages are allowed and partially backlogged. Under these conditions, we model the ret...
